5 Encouraging Bible Verses for Young People

Jeremiah 29:11: For I know what I have for you,’ declares the LORD. ‘ plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

This verse is a reminder that God already had a plan for you, before you were even born. I don’t know about you, but I enjoy living for Him everyday and seeking His will about that plan. Take joy in knowing that God thought the world needed one of you too. He is FOR YOU. Don’t settle for just “the best” for yourself. Seek GOD’S BEST for yourself, because we all know, that is so much greater.

Proverbs 1:7: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of  knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

As young people we have the tendency to think we know it all. We sometimes have an issue with authority and rather learn on our own. It is so foolish to not listen to wise council and older people who have “been there and done that.” It saves so much pain, headache and danger. I am not saying this is true for everything, because some lessons we truly do need to learn on our own. But to be deliberately disobedient and rebellious is just plain dumb and dangerous. Like the verse says, “fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Learn to accept wisdom and instruction. Believe it or not, there are people who actually care about your well-being. They aren’t just always “telling you what to do” or always “in your business.” They’re looking out for you.

1 Timothy 4:12: Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

In addition to the previous scripture, remember that you being young, means absolutely nothing. I mean seriously just think about King David, Samuel, Mary and Joseph, all young people who God used in a tremendous way. Your age means nothing when you’ve dedicated your life and are called by God. Christian rappers such as Andy Mineo, built their music around that idea of #116. (Romans 1:16). Be UNASHAMED to live for God in your young age and be an example. Are you unashamed? Are you a misfit? —– GOOD. 116 STAND UP and REPRESENT!!! (inserts muscle flex) 🙂

Philippians 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

All I can say about this is to seriously run everything by God. Especially at this time of life when everything is so uncertain. We’re trying to find ourselves and think about what we want to do with our lives so we can’t get caught up in being anxious about everything. You’ll literally worry yourself sick. Don’t be afraid to talk about God whenever about whatever! He loves to hear from us and guide us.

Romans 12:2: do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

As Christians, we live in this world, but we are not OF this world. This is only our temporary home, until Jesus parts the sky and returns for us. While we are here, we are supposed to be a light for those in darkness, we are supposed to be loving and serving others. We are supposed to be reflecting Christ. This means saying no to things that don’t gloify Him. This means fleeing away from temptation and sin instead of flirting with it. We can’t conform to the ways of the world. When we were saved, we became a new creation and God renewed our minds. I am not going to say that living for Christ is easy, because it certainly is not, especially in your high school and college years. There’s so much around you and so much freedom, you have to be careful. Don’t let people convince you that you’re boring and you need to try things and experience everything, just because you choose to follow Christ. It is okay to say no, proudly. But please believe that God is smiling down on you every single time you chose Him over this world. Your reward in Heaven will be so much greater than anything, anyone on this Earth could have offered you. Keep pushing, smiling and praising.

Stay encouraged, everyone.
